Before REACT
Sold vegetables at the market with no access to digital tools
SenegalFatou lived in the Néma neighbourhood of Ziguinchor, selling vegetables at the local market. With no computer access, no relevant professional training, she watched opportunities pass her by every day.
The digital divide is not an abstract concept. It was her daily reality.

The training

Joining REACT
Fatou joins the programme through PFPC, which supports the women of her neighbourhood.

Module 1: Discovery
First time on a computer: browsing, email, office software.

Module 3: Digital commerce
WhatsApp Business, product catalogue, taking orders online.
Jun. 2025
DigComp certification
Fatou receives her REACT digital skills certificate.

Starting the business
She opens her shop: printing, typing, admin support.

Fatou in turn trains 3 women from her neighbourhood — the ToT effect.
Chapter 3
The transformation
In eight months, Fatou launched FatouTech Services, a digital services micro-business — printing, data entry, IT support — now serving merchants, craftspeople and NGOs in Ziguinchor.
Furthermore: she has trained three other young women in her neighbourhood, becoming a local relay for the REACT programme.
